Where It Ends

Where It Begins, Where It Ends from Fractal Circus on Vimeo.

“Where It Begins, Where It Ends” is a group show that focuses on the creative breadth of the exhibiting artists. Work on display will range from daily doodles on receipts, secret notes from diaries, to finished drawings and paintings. The intention of this exhibit is to reveal the unique personalities of each artist, drawing attention to their individual work process.

Come down to The My House Gallery (2534 s. 8th st. Philadelphia PA) for the closing reception of a great group show. I was stoked to be showing work alongside the amazing talents of Brad Haubrich, Kris Chau, Adrienne Langer, Aidan Rich, Leah Mackin, and Steve Streisguth.

Time, Space & the Final Frontier

Time, Space, and The Final Frontier opening at Art in The Age

First Friday, June 3rd
6-8PM

In this postmodern, hyper-realistic information age we are constantly questioning the nature of identity and existence. Inspired by classic science-fiction literature, Time, Space & The Final Frontier seeks to define and interpret the metaphysical character of existence through our primal and mysterious connection to the cosmic universe.

Created by guest curator Leah R. Kauffman, editor of Phrequency.com, this cosmic art show features new work from Matthew Gribben, Nosego, Nom Now, a soundscape from Ritz Reynolds, Dewey Saunders, Courtney Brown, Danny Fox, Scott Albrecht, and Adam Lovitz.

Freshly launched gourmet popsicle truck Epsicles will be out front serving up some refreshing space-inspired ice pops custom made for the show.

Warshack

Warshack-May8thFlyerThis Sunday, May 8th at The Farm, 4833 Walton Ave (1 block north of Baltimore ave) 7pm, $5 donation goes toward a baby fox that needs spinal surgery, no fuckin joke!

Warshack from Philadelphia features members of One Master, Deep Possum, and Battle Priest and Lurker. Warshack vomits resinous clouds of brutal mid-tempo riffage with miserable vocals. Reference points include Celtic Frost, Infest’s “Fetch the Pliers”, Axe Grinder, and maybe Die Kreuzen played at quarter-speed. Heavy ritual: this is the sound of neanderthals discovering the void. Tune in, Drop Down, Burn out.

Serpent Throne From Philadelphia, Serpent Throne plays a brand of hard rock that harkens back to the golden age of heavy riffs and tasty solos called the 70’s.”Say there was a heavy rock festival in like ‘72 where Black Sabbath, Wishbone Ash, the Scorpions, Budgie, and like Cactus are supposed to play, but then, due to a series of plane crashes and natural disasters, only 1 surviving member from each band can make it. In order to calm down the crowd of heavy rockers, Iommi grabs a couple dudes from the other bands and puts together an emergency band. And then Uli Roth says, “We don’t need a singer because he’ll just get in the way of the riffs.” I think that’s what Serpent Throne is aiming for. Whether we get there or not is another story, but we’ll drink some beer and rip some guitar harmonies along the way.”

Pilgrim – Hailing from Baltimore, featuring a front woman with a voice and stage presence somewhere between Grace Slick and Patti Smith, and a band that rips sludgy riffs, swinging backbeats, Thin Lizzy-style twin guitar leads, chooglin’ Southern rock twang, proto-metal epics, and just about anything else you could want from a 1970s-influenced hard rock band.

Hope to see yall there

Where it Begins, Where it Ends

WEB where it begins frontWEB where it begins back

Where It Begins, Where It Ends” is a group show curated by our bud Brad Haubrich, opening Sat. May 14th at the My House Gallery | 2534 S. 8th St. (just south of Porter). The  idea behind the show was to get a glimpse into the working phases of an artists process, get a snap shop of their reality, their world of doodles, sketches, preliminary ideas and bizarre thoughts in hopes to reveal the personalities and thought processes of these artists. And to just appreciate the unrefined, the raw stream of consciousness that ales artists to scribble down and obsessively doodled in notebooks, magazines and any scraps laying around when a thought comes to mind. The result should be a refreshing, no frills art show with an eclectic group of artists/illustrators. Come on down south a take a look into our worlds.
